Painted this morning.

I painted this morning after not finding the time over the last few days.
When I posted these pics to write about later/now I made a note that said "Big Brush Black Lines". So that is where I will start my comments on what I have been painting. the "Big Brush" refers to the more general information of the underpainting. The canvas is large enough to put a lot of wrist work into the painting allowing for a bigger fatter brush. This allows for a looser if not better flow in the brushwork. It might be better understood in contrast to smaller works. The strokes can be cramped and have more information than the space allows for when painting on smaller scales. There are of course ways around this but the larger sized canvas offers a sense of freedom or elbow room that the smaller size does not. Picture if you will coasting down long and meandering mountain roads with obtuse curves. Then picture trying to turn in tight hairpin curves. I need to remember to take advantage of this. There are other considerations but I was mainly noting that the folds in the white cover alls could really look great if I started broad and narrowed over time. Same with the contours of the taxi. There is a need to change my relationship with the amount of paint I put down in any given session but I do not think I can put that into words at the moment.
The "Black Lines" is a note to experiment. I wanted to try and see if a more line based style would look okay. The two middle pics here are a painting I have yet to get a hold of. This means I can mess with it without too much concern of going in the wrong direction. I think that my be what will be happening there. Will it be good? It is too early to tell.

There are other thing to work on. Is the arm of the left most person (in the painting with three people) really wonky? I think so but I cannot tell as I might be seeing what I want to see and not what is there. That is an on going situation which probably can be avoided but I seldom do. r.
