So anyways...

In a sort of continuation of the Sketch Books post I was wondering just how far I can and should take something. Often less is more when doing a piece but perhaps there is another level to take the "less" part. For example, the three pieces pictured here are pieces I have done as one sitting illustrations. The Last/bottom one, the Kama Monstra certainly could be improved by more detail or work. The others may be are as good as they are going to get. Or not. I suppose what I am trying to express is that in many ways I am what I always was, a kid in my room with a pencil and paper trying to draw. At this point we can talk about what drawing is or what it means but we won't. It seems that I have been doing essentially the same thing, nearly the same way for over thirty years. Perhaps there is a way to build on that or to leave it behind, whichever is the more appropriate. What does that mean?
I suppose it could mean many things. For me though it is looking like the need to add to the work. Using color, many or few to build it up. I think I am looking for something stronger or more interesting. Something closer to painting. It does seem that what I am saying is these and many other pieces are only half done. They need to be more complete in idea and execution and the only way to get there is time and work. On a side note many works on paper won't hold much in the way of being strong enough to be a proper piece of work. When you buy cheap paper and sketch books you get what you pay for.
