Torn

I do not have any pictures of the work I have been doing. It has, for the last week or so, been mostly going into discarded and undone work. The idea is to make older pictures better or at least work on some things without concern of undermining them. That is to say just messing around with things I am not committed to and letting things happen as they may. I have plenty to work on and finish. Nonetheless I feel the urge to move on and start some work that is not the work I have bee doing. I have several ideas on this front and though I do not have to choose between them I feel feel I should focus my efforts on one idea or project. I would like to work on landscapes some. I have more than one avenue there but my current portfolio is heavy on portraits but light on non-portraits. I have a collection of roof tops to use but I also should do the plein aire stuff. How far into blogging about this idea should I go? I am not sure but if you ask I will happily supply more detail. I will say that I think the idea of painting on longer rectangular canvases appeals to me. Just saying. On a side note I have noticed that my larger brushes are collecting dust for the most part and I need to rectify that. I think I need to start putting more energy in more original paintings. By this I mean to do work less with photos (or even models)and paint from scratch. Or at least take ideas I have put to paper and flesh them out to the point of being a comprehensive painting. This may not be the very next step but it is certainly a step that needs to happen. I have a lot of pictures stored on the computer. I would also like to start doing watercolors and get a collection together of those. I can rearrange things to do that tonight or tomorrow. ciao r.
