Hymenoptera part II
In addition too what I am drawing or not drawing, painting or not painting there are other ideas swirling about in my brain. Many of them involve the collecting of material(s) at the pace unto which they can be found. Finding or obtaining them in some other way than flat out buying them is important to the concept of many of these projects and plays well into my pack rat nature. For example the top photo of bread clips is analogous to the stamps of this older post (As with part one of this post topic this post refers to back here).
I no longer have the stamps but their use in a pixelization piece is much the same.
The bones of the second photo have been considered for several projects. The latest is one that focuses on the inherent repetition of form. This single concept links into several larger ideas including the form/function of biology as well as the factory farming homogeny that probably "bred" these very bones. Though in truth right now they seem like good material for J.'s temple project. That, though, is my opinion and has no bearing on anyone else.
The Nails is a new idea, or at least the collection of bent and used nails is a new endeavor. I feel the potential shape and dialogue between nails has a lot of possibilities.
Last but not least the rusty metal of the last photo. It has taken me a while to collect as much as I have. I think there is finally enough to restart the City of Rust project. This one has always been a favorite of mine.
