Working Statement For Taxi Paintings

Scenes from Television’s “Taxi” The short description of these paintings are that they are scenes taken from the late 70s and early 80s television program called “Taxi”. The longer description is that they are mid-narrative paintings informed by centuries of art history and filtered simultaneously through personal experience and general late 20th century media culture. Ideally they will invoke an idea of timeless and universal human drama but retain a sense of the nostalgic bleeding into the realm of the other. To put into different terms, what you are seeing occurs in the past but is still happening as you view them. They neither leave their specific time and place yet find their voice in the present
