This is a bit of celebration of where I am from. It is not a critique but it is perhaps telling. I am posting this blurry pic of a painting I no longer have because of a comment I just read. Some one had said in an interview that she worked with a bunch of different artists when she were young. I wondered what that must have been like. I cannot say I had much exposure to anything overly arty in my youth, certainly nothing comprehensive. I suppose I took whatever I could glean out of pop culture. I do not think I was particularly aware of anyone's work, certainly when I was young.
This brings to mind a picture idea, just as I write it. As you probably know that there is a famous painting called "The Gleaners" or something like that. I see myself as a gleaner on different levels and in different ways. But the act culling from pop media might be an interesting interpretation in itself.
Just some thoughts
